Pronunciation Lab Privacy Policy

Pronunciation Lab helps you practice English words and assess your pronunciation. This policy explains what information the app handles.

Information Handled

The app uses the microphone only when you choose to record. It handles the word you enter, your recording, and pronunciation-analysis data derived from that recording. The app does not require an account and does not request your location, contacts, or photos.

On-Device Processing and Storage

Your recording is saved in the app's local storage and analyzed on your device to recognize speech sounds. App settings, including a custom backend address if you provide one, are also stored locally. The app does not provide account-based or iCloud sync. You may choose to export a recording with the iOS share sheet.

Backend Processing

To produce an assessment, the app sends the word you entered, language and scoring settings, and numerical speech-analysis data to the Pronunciation Lab backend. The raw audio recording is not sent to the default backend. The backend returns expected and detected speech sounds, a score, and suggestions.

Custom Backends and Technical Data

If you enable a custom backend, the assessment data described above is sent to the address you provide and is subject to that service's practices. Servers and network providers may process standard technical information, such as IP address, request time, and error details, to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the service.

Data Control

You can deny or revoke microphone access in iOS Settings. You control when a recording is exported. Removing the app from your device removes data stored in its app container, subject to normal device backups and iOS behavior.
